About

Rafael Henin is a Philadelphia based photographer and glassblower.  Besides working as a freelance photographer,  Rafael teaches Digital Photography and Glassblowing at the Harrisburg Area Community College.

Rafael has been working in the photography and glass arts for 15+ years. Born in 1977 in Luxembourg,  Rafael was introduced to glass blowing while studying Photography at University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.   Under the instruction of Roland Jahn, an internationally-renowned artist, his passion for glass led him to complete a minor in craft arts focusing on glass blowing.

After graduating Rafael’s career in Photography took off.  He established himself as a freelance digital photographer in the Philadelphia area shooting for companies such as Lenox, QVC, and Little Maven and Heart Strings.

In 2008, Rafael began teaching for Harrisburg Area Community College as an adjunct professor in the Photography program. It was here that Rafael was able to renew his passion for the glass arts spending many a late night experimenting in the glass shop during his off hours.  In the fall of 2011 Rafael was asked to teach the glass classes at HACC. His rekindled passion for glass blowing has enabled him to continue developing his technique and style while balancing his love for the art of photography.
